Abstract

In the international community, the basis of survival and development for any country is the international community, it also has a profound impact for the country’s foreign policy and external behavior. With the change of world economy and political situation, the United States, as the world’s only superpower, adjusted its foreign policy, but always to maximize the national interest of the United States as its foreign policy to pursue the ultimate goal. Although peace and development was the themes of our times, it didn’t choose peaceful way instead of the most direct and effective way—an act of war to solve the problem as the world’s people wishes when American national interests were threatened. Taking use of its strong political, economic and military strength to fight for other countries, the United States ultimately achieved the goal of safeguarding national interests with its strong and tough stance. In recent years, although China’s political, economic and cultural level and international status were rising to some extent, according to the "golden mean", China weakly called for a serious warning when China’s national interests were threatened. Therefore, this paper hopes China can clearly define the national interest, learn the merits of the United States, through the studies of the U.S. national interest in maintaining the supremacy of behavior selection. The fight for national interests would never compromise or make a concession, and China’s national interests above everything else is always to the highest standards. Meanwhile, when China reference for certain acts selection of the United States, we should also prevent the United States to permeate into China’s political, economic, cultural and diplomatic areas by the same methods and means, to threat to China’s national interests.By the studies from the U.S. safeguarding the national interests to take action, this paper shows the performance and earnings obtained by the U.S. government, which adjusted foreign policy and actions on the basis of the changes of world economic and political pattern. The wish is that our government can get some enlightenments from the behavior of the United States, timely adjust China’s foreign policy and actions in order to meet the pattern changes of world politics, economy and culture and maximize the realization of our national interests. The main contents of the paper is as follows:The first chapter introduces the topics of the background, meaning, researches at home and abroad, research ideas and methods of papers.The second chapter mainly defines the basic concepts of national interests, states main elements of theory of national interest and provides a theoretical basis for the full text.The third, fourth and fifth chapter primarily states that the United States timely adjusted its foreign policy and actions in different historical background, launched "Kosovo War", "Afghanistan War" and "Iraq war" in a different reason, the U.S depended on behavior selections to gain substantial political benefits. However, regardless of the consequences and impacts of war for international community, the United States adhered to the principle of supremacy of national interests.The sixth chapter summarizes behavior selections of U.S. national interests above everything else and the enlightenments for China.
