Abstract


This paper gives a comprehensive description of the grammaticalization of the word "lai shuo".We analyse the mechanism of grammaticalization,and discovered that the grammaticalization of the word "lai shuo" is effected by the form and meaning.In respect of syntax,we primarily judge the part of speech of "lai shuo",and analyse the part of speech of "X" that can match with "lai shuo".And we find that "X" can be a noun,a adjective,a verb or a preposition.In respect of semantics,we analyse the semantic meaning of the structrue "X lai shuo",and then we analyse the part of speech of "Y" and the syntactic function of "X+Y+lai shuo"."X+Y+lai shuo" may be parenthesis,adverbial modifier,attributive modifier or object.In respect of pragmatics,"lai shuo" can become a topic marker or a contrast marker.And "lai shuo" can not only connect words in one sentence but also connect different sentences.In a word,on the basis of the former studies we analyse the course and the mechanism of grammaticalization of "lai shuo" through the grammaticalization thoery.And we analyse the features of" lai shuo" on syntax,semantics and pragmatics.We hope this thesis can be helpful to the areas as the Chinese grammar research and teaching Chinese as a second language.
