Abstract

As the important structures, hyperbolic-type cooling tower is generally used in thermal power plants and nuclear power plant to cool circulating water. With the rapid development of the power industry and the increasing of coal-fired power plants’ capacity, reinforced concrete of hyperbolic-type cooling tower is more and more super and high,it makes wind lord become more and more sensitive. A study of very large indirect air-cooled hyperbolic cooling tower’ s wind-induced vibration、wind characteristics and the structure of such design have an important role. This paper researched the following three aspects. First, a very large hyperbolic cooling tower of the numerical simulation of wind load studies. This text gives the wind tunnel numerical simulation of the large-size hyperbola cooling tower (210m), and show the disposition of the surface wind pressure. We calculate the wind pressure shape coefficient of the tower. After comparing the wind pressure shape coefficient from analog computation with the norm, we found that the result is consistent, which means the numerical simulation of large-size hyperbola cooling tower is feasible. Second, the time-history analysis of wind vibration .The purpose of study on wind-induced vibration characteristics of hyperbolic cooling towers is to get the wind-induced vibration coefficient. The researching of pulse wind-induced vibration in the text is based on finite element model. After getting the time-history analysis by using of the time-curve function of simulation wind load, we classify the results, and then we can get the wind-induced cooling tower coefficient. We know that the wind-induced cooling tower coefficient changes with different height. The higher the structure, the greater the load factor of wind-induced vibration, and the more dramatic changes. Third, the stress and deformation analysis. The paper research hyperbolic cooling towers’ strain and stress under wind load and wind load with self-respect. For the very large hyperbolic cooling towers, the analysis of the maximum displacement is in the vertex and the deformation is relatively small. The maximum surface stress is in the 50m height, and the stress concentration region is 50m to 100m. Above 100m the height of the greater, the stress the smaller, and the stress is the smallest in the 210m.To sum up, in the 210m high tower of the very large hyperbolic cooling towers for the wind-induced vibration characteristics and analysis of stress and deformation, structural deformation and stress did not exceed the allowed range of values. However, the structure is more sensitive than the small tower under wind load, and the design need to check the structure’ s wind resistance performance, and set the wind resistance measures.
