Abstract

Amine is one of the most important organic nitrogen compounds in the atmosphere. They exist in the form of gas, liquid, solid states. Amines become transformed through oxidant reactions with hydroxyl radicals or ozone, and acid-base reactions with acids such as HN03 and H2SO4. Therefore it makes sense to determination the concentrations and analysis of sources in the aerosol. Also, it’s meaningful to discuss the potential contributions to the SOA and new particle formation. The major results of this study are as below:(1) Aliphatic and aromatic amines in the aerosol were determination of by GC/MS. The results indicated that the concentration of amines were detected in the order of ng/m3. The concentration of low aliphatic amines, such as dimethylamine, diethylamine, were relatively high.(2) From the size distribution, the considerable amine concentrations in fine particle indicate that amines were likely taken up from the gas phase into the particle.(3) It was showed that aliphatic amines and aromatic amine had different sources. The sources of the low aliphatic amines were not only primary and secondary, but also natural and anthropogenic.(4) Like ammonia, amines may play a similar and non-negligible role in the formation of SOA and new particle. Unlike ammonia, the oxidant and acid-base reactions of amines depends not only on the concentration of the amine and the acid, but also on the concentration of ammonia which competes for acidic molecules and the meterological conditons etal.(5) Based on the modification of ThermoLCQ Advantagemass spectrometer, trace amines were analyzed on the optimized conditions.
