Abstract


The construction of Waterfront Park of small to medium-sized cities has been selected in this study.First of all,from the loss of human-oriented issue in the construction of gardens in public space of small to medium-sized cities during the continuous rapid expansion of urban scale and development of material civilization,and from design details and predictability,how to complete a garden design on the fundamental characteristics of a city and people’s basic requirement was analyzed.Secondly,because small and medium-sized cities can act as the link of artificial landscape and wild natural landscape for major cities as well as mega-cities so that natural wildness can interconnect the three parts through infiltration of small and medium-sized cities,forming the tie of urban landscape,the new concept of landscape design,recreation of "nature" was put ward.The paper is aimed at exploring the influence of contemporary art as it is tending to change radically and a few approaches to urban landscape design,so as to provide some new theories for urban landscape design and combination of wild natural environment.The concept of belt-shaped landscape with infiltration from "nature" to "small and medium-sized cities",further to "major and mega cities " was put forth.At the same time,the creation of landscape in public spaces of small and medium-sized cities was completed through an interactive trial design.From the study on the concept of landscape design,the meaning of existing "Landscape Architecture" was clarified,on the basis of which,the existing type of landscape design was analyzed,including the design concept guided by the sense of aesthetic,ecological awareness and awareness of cultural heritage.It was further pointed out that in the landscape design, especially for small and medium-sized cities,urban architecture - people - natural environment form an integrated framework.The paper summarized the meaning of environment in the landscape design,pointing out that human is the principal part of all landscape design,for landscape exists as both living space and area for the human being,it corresponds to the natural landscape and location landscape.The significance of "Nature" is that it is the basis for human survival,but also the basis for the existence of cities in the natural environment.From the nature of landscape design,the principle for the landscape design was put forth,and based on "natural ecology,artistic aesthetics,cultural heritage",the new strategy of "people-oriented concept,natural recycling,sustainable development," was given,and the basis for art design components was established with the further integration of the contemporary art spirit and the law for the development of natural science.The paper analyzed the essential design parts of these elements,and for the works of contemporary art,its original intention of creation was explored,with the application of the spirit of art to designs.It is pointed out that as one of the natural elements,man can’t be recreated,but condition close to the natural ones can be so as for the nature to react upon the man.And through relevant examples the main points was analyzed,and the theoretical framework was applied to landscape garden design,especially to that of small and medium-sized cities.Based on the existing theories and methods in landscape design,with the cases of urban landscape design as object,the paper analyzed the emergence of landscape design and its course of development,and then the landscape design was reviewed on the basis of the realities and a few existing issues.At the same time the paper put forward some new design ideas and suggestions so as to provide the theoretical basis for future design related to this study,but also to some extent to guide future design practice.
