Abstract


Recent years, as a great work of piano and the most classical music piece in 19th century, "Sonata in B minor" composed by Franz Liszt has attracted more and more concern and affection in public. Created in 1853, this work borne from the Weimar period of him in which he wrote music most initiatively and participated in musical activity most frequently. This work includes series of musical chapters full of histrionics and lyricism. Rejecting the traditional way of writing sonata and adopting the principle of "theme yariarity", the composer made a bold attempt at the theme development and structure arrangement, blended the characteristics of several chapters into one, and finally accomplished such a magnificent work in a simple manner with limited musical stuff. This highly incarnates the composer’s specific thought structure and the exposition to art."Sonata in B minor" is the autobiographic expression and portray of the whole life of Liszt. The work is full of violently conflict and the suffering sensibility of Catholic martyr bearing heroism, revealing the Liszteria magnificent narrative feature. It is the profound and passionate originality in the work that beats out a new path towards the piano music in 19th century even go-on.Not only does the work of "Sonata in B minor" with significant content invents the modality of mono-movement and leads a new route of the way about the innovation of the sonata form, but the composer attempts the novel harmonic tones and writing skills, making the work possessing the features of impressionism initially. Meanwhile, the composer comprehensively utilizes various rough performing skills and abundant expression strength. What’s more, the work carrying much more significance offers the hints of the true inner world of Liszt and his aesthetic viewpoints. Therefore, in the present thesis, we summarize and analyze the work comparative thoroughly from the perspective of creation background, writing content, musical form, art feature and aesthetic thought, hoping to explore the artistic value of Liszt’s work from a deeper level of better understanding and to perform this sonata.
