Abstract


Chen Hong was a famous music educator,theoretician,translator and composer in China. Starting from 1930th he had applied himself to the professional music education.Then he had been working on（the front line of） music education at a normal music school since new China established till the end of the 20th century.He was one of the most outstanding music educators and had made important contributions to music education in the 20th century.In this thesis,we will try our best to evaluate his deeds completely,objectively and in detail.Our evaluation is based on a series of Chen Hong’s papers,research achievements in music theory and music works in the last century,moreover,in combination with the development and culture background of modern Chinese musical history.The thesis is composed of five chapters.In chapter 1,Chen Hong’s resume is briefly introduced.In Chapter 2,Chen Hong’s reformation thought on Chinese music is summarized and analyzed based on his published papers.In chapter 3,some famous foreign musicians and their musical works are studied according to the foreign literatures translated by Chen Hong.In chapter 4,Chen Hong’s thought on music education is analyzed and summarized by reviewing historical records.In chapter 5,musical works created by Chen Hong are analyzed.
