Abstract

For refractory and low grade nickel sulfide ores, magnesium silicate has complex components, and it is often the coexistence of multiple ores, such as serpentine, tale and chlorite. This improves the difficulty of reducing magnesium as well as the nickel extractive metallurgy later. Therefore, this thesis studies the multiple magnesium silicate mixed ore from a set of three pairwise measurements among serpentine, tale and chlorite. And also studies the artificial mixed minerals between that and pyrite. By studying the effect of the interaction mode of complex magnesium silicate particles on flotation behaviors, we focuses on finding the basic thought and method to achieve the synchronous inhibition among the multiple magnesium silicate minerals. So that we could separate them from the pyrite in artificial mixed ores flotation.A series of experiments, including dispersion tests and flotation of unitary and mixed magnesium silicate, artificial mixed ores flotation tests, electric potential tests, absorption measurement and calculation of DLVO theory, has been conducted in this paper. The contents of this thesis include the parts as follows.(1)The particle surface electrical properties of serpentine are differ from that of talc and chlorite in a broader pH range, which lead to heteroaggregation between serpentine and talc particles, which made lowing magnesium in sulfide ore flotation process more difficult, while talc and chlorite have little effect to each other in flotation.(2)The flotation of pyrite will be intensively inhibited in both unitary and mixed magnesium silicate when serpentine existed. Talc and chlorite have little impact on pyrite flotation.(3)The basic way of Sync suppressing multi-magnesium silicate minerals is:heteroaggregation mong particles should be eliminated firstly, then easy floating minerals were suppressed.Sodium hexametaphosphate, water glass, guar gum and CMC used separately cannot bring about the synchronous inhibition among the multiple magnesium silicate minerals. The combination of Sodium hexametaphosphate and guar gum is the best choice among all the regulators’combinations in achieving the synchronous inhibition.(4) In the combination of sodium hexametaphosphate and guar gum, Sodium hexametaphosphate made the surface potential of serpentine particles from the positive into negative, which resulted in serpentine particles dispersed, the adsorption of guar gum on three multi-magnesium silicate minerals surface was selectivity, adsorption ability is talc>chlorite>serpentine, thereby guar gum could well restrain talc and chlorite.
