Abstract


With the reforming of the geographical curriculum and instruction, scholars have renewed their awareness of the essence of textbook. The Fundamental feature of this development is ’Exemplification’ of the textbook. Regarded as a paradigm, textbook leads students to aware, study develop, live and establish. At the same time, because of the proposing the concept of ’changing the learning pattern’, scholars also have to meet the new challenges of the implements of the Exemplifications during editing textbooks, teaching and evaluating classes. According to the nation promulgated the geography curriculum standard (pilot) in the common senior high school in 2003, released by the Ministry of Education, exemplification study was assigned as one of the essential methods of geography study in senior high schools. Under this situation, how to accomplish the innovation of compiling the exemplification in high school geography textbook became one of the topics worth to be researched.This article includes six parts. Introduction part raises the topic out, and the following theoretic part analyses the issue, pointing out the connotation of exemplifications in senior textbook. Then practical study supervenes, finding out the necessary characteristics of them. Finally, it gives suggestions on writing textbook. The last part is about revelations and auspice, in other words, it’s a conclusion that indicates the logistic jumping-off point of subsequent researches.The methods are literature study, comparing, expert consultation, investigating and case analysis. Literature study gathers interrelated information on senior textbook and makes evaluation; Compare is against different editions of geography textbooks, and hopes to contrast and chase down the distinctions and sameness of them; Experts consultation goes together with investigation, making full use of foregone experience, data, and theory, through filtration, sum-up and comparing, to do research. The whole process carries out with case analysis.After research, productions are as follows. We defined the connotation of ’Exemplification’. Regarded as a paradigm, textbook leads students to aware, study develop, live and establish; According to survey, we were be conscious of the necessary characteristics of exemplification.In the end, we obtain the last conclusion, based on which we put forward the principle and strategy when compiling paradigms. This offers gist and direction for textbook writing and selection.
