Abstract


In recent years, economy hotel has become a new profit increasing point in China’s hotel investment, and thus relevant research about it has also become a hot issue in tourism management. With the rapid economic growth in China, market demand has expanded constantly and China’s economy hotels have developed very quickly. Since 2008, the economic crisis stirred by the American subprime mortgage has swept the world and affected capital market and real economy both at home and abroad. Against this backdrop, this thesis explores what effective measures China’s economy hotels should take to tackle the crisis.First, this thesis analyzes the background and significance of this topic and makes clear what problems will be solved here. The research framework and research methods of this thesis have also been ascertained here.Next After a literature review of relevant economy hotel theories, some basic theories have been also introduced here, such as Michael Porter’s competition theory, Industrial Organization theory, capital operation theory, etc.And then a review of China’s economy hotels’development has been made. It is pointed out here that the characteristics and many problems exist in China’s economy hotels. And the process of this financial crisis is described. What is more, its influence on China’s economy and economy hotels is analyzed from the aspects of challenge and opportunities. Thus an industry environment analysis of China’s economy hotels has been made here, along with a SWOT analysis.Finally, On this basis, it is suggested that, to tackle the financial crisis, China’s economy hotels should adopt difference strategy, enhance cost control with e-commerce, innovate upon management model to integrate industry resource and apply steady management. To support this view, the case analysis of Hanting Inns and 7 Days Inns is conducted.
