Urban waterfront is not only the central of urban activity, but is the complex of water and urban. Urban waterfront,as the urban area with natural and artificial features,boasts a strong historical flowour and high human value. Since the middle of the last century, with global industrial restructuring, urban waterfront development has encountered a bottleneck into the decline period, during this period, economic benefits result to the environment greatly damaged. Study on urban waterfront regeneration can greatly enhance the urban ecological function and cultural functions, resulting in enormous economic benefits, and promote urban development.Through field surveys, literature analysis, inductive analysis, conflict analysis and theory with practice method, based on proposed studies,we propose concept of the urban waterfront regeneration, for the characteristics and difficult problems in urban waterfront development process, from four models are given a specific method of revitalization.This paper mainly consists of five parts.The first chapter is introduction.Firstly describes the background of the subjects, with the global economic restructuring, some waterfront recession, led us to focus on the waterfront space. Combined the research of home and abroad, based on regeneration theory, we put forward concept of urban waterfront regeneration.The second chapter is the development process of urban waterfront at home and abroad,then compared each otherThe third chapter is the core of the text, based on the theory of urban regeneration, respectively from the social, economic, environment and cultural discussing mode method of urban waterfront. On economic level, the mode is oriented to what is waterway transport and port industries、large commercial shopping centers and tourism; On social level, the mode is oriented to what is the residential and waterfront public open space; On environmental dimensions, the mode is oriented to what is ecological recovery and urban design guidelines and policies regulations; On cultural dimensions, we proposed cultural landmarks, cultural festivals, cultural tourism-oriented mode and integrated composite mode.
