Abstract


Trust in the aspect of promoting urban economic and social development has important significance, and the household registration system lead to urban internal social division, may bring serious negative impact on trust. According to the sample household survey data of Shanghai, this study analyzes the determinants of trust level, and focuses on the household register identity affect residents' trust level. Studies have found that in the case of other conditions remain unchanged, without local hukou residents, neighbors and the society more distrust village most of the people, and lower levels of trust in government. And household segmentation adverse impacts on the level of trust will not be as non-local residents income and education levels increase and reduce or disappear. In addition, we also found that personal confidence and trust in the society and the government but also by the other residents the trust level in the residential area of effect (i.e., "group effect"). Due to non local census register population is relatively concentrated, with a group of effects will be amplified by the household registration division of society brought about negative effects on the trust.
