In this research, monogastric animals was used as animal modles to study the effects of bacillus preparation on performance, serum-related indicators, product quality, the development of gastrointestinal tract, apparent digestibility of nutrients. The present research consists of two experiments which were listed as follow. The first experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of bacillus preparation on performance, serum related index, egg quality and cecal flora in layers. Three thousand and six hundred 259-day-old layers were randomly divided into 2 groups, with 6 replications per group and 300 layers each replication; Layers in control group were fed basal diet. The trail groups were fed diet supplemented with 3% bacillus preparation. The experiment lasted for 40 d.12 eggs were randomly selected from each replication every 10 days, for the determination of egg quality, eggs physical indicators, egg yolk nutrition. On day 41, three layers was selected from each replications, blood from wing vein were obtained and used to determine serum related index, then one layer was slaughtered, cecal was collected to determine contents of escherichia coli and lactobacillus. The results showed that:there was no significant effect of bacillus preparation on performance of layers (P> 0.05). The content of blood suger was significantly improved (P < 0.05) compared to control. There were no significant effect of bacillus preparation on egg quality (eggshell hardness, haugh unite and egg yolk color) of layers (P> 0.05). egg yolk weight and egg yolk relative weight were significantly increased (P< 0.05) in the full days of trial, egg white relative weight was significantly decreased (P< 0.05) compared to control. The water content of egg yolk was significantly lower (P< 0.05) than control. The contents of lactobacillus in cecal was increased (P< 0.05) and the escherichia coli was reduced (P> 0.05) compared to control. In conclusion:there were no significant effects of bacillus preparation on performance, egg quality in layers, but significantly improved the egg physical indicators, egg nutrients and intestinal microbial structure. The second experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of bacillus preparation on growth performance, serum related index, gastrointestinal development and digestion of nutrients in weaned piglets. Ninety six 35-day-old weaned piglets were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 3 replications per group and 8 piglets each replication. Piglets were fed basal diet supplemented with 0,0.75%,1.5%,3%bacillus (contained 0.66×1010,1.32×1010,2.64×1010cfu/kg), respectively. The experiment lasted for 35 d. On day 36, one piglet was slaughtered from each replication, spleen, pancreas, liver were collected to weigh and calculate organ index; Boundaries of each gastrointestinal segment were ligated quickly to determine pH, tissues from duodenum, jejunum and ileum were obtained and used for tissue slice, and cecum and colon contents were collected to determine volatile fatty acids. The results showed that:there were no significant influence of bacillus preparation on performance, serum related index, organ index, gastrointestinal pH value, villus height and villus height/crypt depth of piglets (P>0.05), but the crypt depth in primal section of jejunum were significantly decreased fed with 0.75% bacillus preparation (P<0.05). Acetic acid, propionate and total volatile fatty acid content in appendix section was significantly higher (P<0.05) than control. there were no significant effects of bacillus preparation on digestion of nutrients (including crude protein、energy、Ca、P). It was concluded that there was no significant effect of bacillus preparation on performance, serum related index, organ index, gastrointestinal pH value in weaned piglets. But may be benefit for the development of morphology and function of intestinal tract. The optimal addition level of bacillus preparation is 0.75% in weaned piglets.
