Abstract


Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical pathology features of heparitinase(HPSE) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods:80 cases of non-small cell lung cancer were selected from The Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and Hunan Provincial Tumor Hospital from January 2006 to January 2008. All these cases were not carried out radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and diagnosed as NSCLC by pathology. All the NSCLC cases were carried out clinical stage according to standard of International Union Against Cancer (UICC) in 2003. SABC immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of HPSE in NSCLC patients, cancer adjacent tissue and normal lung tissue. Then we analysed the relation between the NSCLC patients’life span, pTNM staging and HPSE expression.Results:①Immunohistochemical results showed that the HPSE positive rate of normal lung tissue,cancer adjacent tissue and lung cancer tissue was 3.8%,11.3% and 53.8% respectively. The HPSE positive rate of lung cancer tissue was much higher than the normal lung tissue (P<0.01) and cancer adjacent tissue (P<0.01).②There were no statistical significance of HPSE expression in different groups about sex, age, histological type and tumor differentiation degree (P>0.05).③HPSE expression was significantly correlated with NSCLC patients’life span. The HPSE positive rate of NSCLC cases with life span less than 3 years was 90.6% The positive rate was much higher than that in the cases(25.0%) whose life span exceeded 3 years (P＜0.01).④HPSE expression was significantly correlated with pTNM staging. The HPSE positive rates of stage I and stageⅡwere 26.7% and 23.4% respectively, which were much lower than those of stageⅢ(85.7%) and stageⅣ(100.0%)(P<0.01). Conclusions:①There was high expression of HPSE in non-small cell lung cancer.②HPSE expression was significantly correlated with NSCLC life span and pTNM staging.
