Abstract


ObjectivesTo investigate early clinical manifestations, the behavior and cognitive level of autistic children,provide the basis for early diagnosis and early interventions of autistic children.MethodsTaking 28 children with autism, (male 23, female 5),26 children with mental retardation (male 15, female 13) who consistent with the diagnostic criteria made by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental disorders (DSM-Ⅳ) and 31 normal children (male 21, female 10).The parents fill general questionnaire, autism child behavior Checklist (ABC Scale), Children’s Adaptive Behavior Scale. Applying Pi Bodi Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT test) to assess. Applications SPSS 18.0 statistical software to statistical analysis of the above result.Results1、There were not significantly different on parents’educational level and occupation comparing autism group and normal control group. There were significant differences in mood comparing autism group,the mental retardation group and normal control group during pregnancy (x2=9.96), autism group of mothers during pregnancy more anxiety, tension, depression. 2、History of growth and development:study on growth and development of autistic children show their mean age when emerged smiling, speak words, phrases, will sit, crawl was significantly delayed compared with normal children. The time to smile was significantly delayed compared with mental retardation, children with autism was 9.6 months,2.1 months children with mental retardation.3、Early clinical manifestations:Abnormal behavior first appeared in the most common were stereotyped, repetitive behavior and special postures, and difficult to be controlled, no sociability smile, no respond when called, difficult to use voice and toys to attract their attention, can not be understood by others when talk to himself, no tendency to play games. Children with autism were seriously flawed in social, language, behavior than normal children. Autism were more obvious defects than children with mental retardation in the social aspects.4、Autistic children behavior:there were significant differences in the score, total scores and ratio of the sense, communication, motor, language, self-care subscale between autism and normal children group. There were significant differences in the scores of communication, language, movement compared with group with mental retardation, autism children’s language and social skills is lower.5、Adaptive Behavior of Children:The independent factor, cognitive factor and social factor, ADQ were significantly different between the autistic children and the normal. There was no significant difference compared with mental retardation.6、The PPVT test results of the three groups show that:the mean PPVT scores of autism group was significantly lower than normal children group’s, but no significant differences compared with the mental retardation.Conclusion1、Children with autism have felt more anxiety and fear and nervous during pregnancy, and were significantly differen compared with mental retardation group, and normal control groupt.2、Autistic children in language, social life, sport system development was significantly delayed compared with normal children, and was latter to smile than mental retardation.3、Strange movements and stereotyped repetitive movements were more obvious among abnormal behavior first discovered, while no social smile, and no respond when called his name,and talk to himself without being understood are more common. Children with autism were seriously flawed in social, language, behavior compared with normal children. Autism were more obvious defects than children with mental retardation in the social aspects of and more problems in the bizarre behavior.4、Atistic children were significantly different with the normal children group in the sense comunication, motor, language, self-care subscale. And they have more prominent problems than the group of mental retardation in communication, language, sports, out of these problem.5、The autistic children’s adaptive behavior, intelligence were significantly lower than normal children group, and was no difference in mental retardation.
