Objective To investigate the case of chronic cough in children and promote the diagnosis process and treatment.Methods Retrospective analysis of 394 cases of chronic cough in children from Aug,2009 to Nov.2010.Results The main cause of chronic cough in 394 patients is cough variant asthma or asthma (38.3%), post-infectious cough (25.9%), tuberculosis infection (11.9%), upper airway syndrome (8.9%), trachea, bronchus (8.6%). Which< 3 aged infant chronic cough of causes is post infectious cough mainly (73.5%), second bronchial foreign body (16.3%); 3-7 aged children chronic cough causes are cough variant asthma mainly (49.3%), second tuberculosis infection (17.8%);> 7 aged children chronic cough is cough variant asthma or asthma mainly (43.4%), second upper airway cough syndrome (14.5%). Through clinical symptoms in children with 84.8% and a secondary check (chest x ray, hematological parameters and Mycoplasma pneumonia IgM antibody in serum, PPD test, blood serum allergen test, bronchoscopy) diagnosis. After oral montelukast treatment in children with 95.7%, cough symptoms had improved.Conclusion The cause of chronic cough is complex and different with the differengt age of children, the main cause is Asthma or cough variant asthma, post-infectious cough, tuberculosis infection, upper airway syndrome, bronchial foreign body, in accordance with the clinical features coughing, supplementary examination, treatment, most children identified the cause chronic cough, greatly improving the treatment of chronic cough pediatric level, while improving quality of life of children.
