Abstract


Xu Xuan (917-992) undergoes Wu, Southern Tang Dynasty and Sung Dynasty , and his poetry creation spans two dynasty . Xu Xuan entried literature domain of Southern Tang Dynasty with erudition and literary talent。Meanwhile he was famous as high-ranking official in the south of the Changjiang River. Experience of homeland being conquered and three time’s exiling brought him richer poetry content and the emotion experience. His poetry refleced profuse theme including the leisurely and carefree mood , chaos caused by war, sorrow of parting, thinking of the hometown and expectation for rusticity. Xu Xuan’ s poetry style changed along with his grievous experience from euphemistical and graceful description in Southern Tang Dynasty to exquisite and implicit depiction in Sung Dynasty. When being an official of Sung he brought poetry style of Southern Tang Dynasty and promoted the style of Sung’ s poetry. It is the first part this thesis researches. Xu Xuan’ s poerty style was full of complexity. For getting to the bottom of this question , second part mainly discussed the relationship between Xu Xuan’ s poerty style and Bai’ s. Bai’ s poetry style in the thesis is verses from poets in early Sung who imitated Bai’ s style and that were similar to Bai Juyi’ s style.After Fang Hui thought Xu Xuan as a poet who learned Bai Juyi, many scholar including Qing’ s and contemporary’ s agreed his opinion. This thesis compare the poetry style of Xu Xuan with Li Fang who was still recognized to learn from Bai Juyi’ s poetry. Finally we find Xu Xuan’ s poerty learned from not only Bai Juyi but also others. In Sung many people such as Wu Shu and Zheng Wenbao who were very outstanding on literature regarded him as teacher .What’ s more , many high-ranking official made friends with him and spoke highly of Xu Xuan’ s character and literary accomplishments.So we can say Xu Xuan had incessant influence on the poetry realm of early Sung. And his status was not be substituted in the history of poerty.
