Objective: To study in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with serum fetuin A (Fetuin-A) levels and bone mineral density (BMD) and the relationship between glucose and lipid metabolism . Methods: October 2008 to March 2010 , Second Xiangya Hospital , Central South University of Endocrinology hospitalized postmenopausal female patients 44 cases of T2DM , and age , years since menopause , body mass index matched healthy postmenopausal women 41 cases . Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) of serum Fetuin-A, glucose oxidase fasting glucose and postprandial 2h plasma glucose (FPG, 2hPG); chemiluminescence fasting C-peptide and postprandial 2h C peptide (FCP, 2hCP) ; using HOMA calculator HOMA-IR and HOMA% B; HPLC method for determination HbA1c; dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measurements after anterior lumbar 1-4 (PAL1-4), the left femoral neck (FN), femoral shaft (Inter), greater trochanter (Troch) and total femur (Thip) BMD. Results: ( 1 ) Type 2 diabetes serum Fetuin-A levels significantly lower than the control group (359.18 ± 80.06ug/ml, 400.98 ± 98.45 ug / ml, P lt; 0.05), no significant difference in bone mineral density in the two groups , the two groups HOMA-IR was no significant difference ; ( 2 ) all postmenopausal women with serum Fetuin-A multiple linear regression analysis , triglycerides (TG), body mass index (BMI), fasting plasma glucose (FPG) was Fetuin-A independent factors ( b'j values ??were 0.323,0.285, -0.349, P lt; 0.05), multiple linear regression equation is : Fetuin-A (μg / ml) = 204.38 27.231 × TG 9.055 × BMI-12.095 × FPG. ( 3 ) in postmenopausal women with normal serum Fetuin-A multiple linear regression analysis , TG, BMI, HOMA-IR was Fetuin-A independent factors (b'j values ??were 0.297,0.216, -0.383, P lt; 0.05) . ( 4 ) Type 2 diabetes group, multivariate linear regression prompt TG, BMI and Fetuin-A showed a significant positive correlation (bi ') = 0.392,0.308, P lt; 0.05), HbA1c and Fetuin-A negative correlation was independent ( b; j = -0.291, P lt; 0.05); multiple regression equation as a serum Fetuin-A (μg / ml) = 201.046 23.672 × TG 8.433xBMI-8.999 × HbA1c. ( 5 ) Press the BMD of all female groups were divided into normal bone mass , low bone mass group and the OP group three groups , Fetuin-A decrease in bone mass with a downward trend , but no significant difference (P gt; 0.05) . Conclusions: ( a ) in postmenopausal women with T2DM patients serum Fetuin-A levels decreased, closely associated with high blood sugar ; (2) OP patients Fetuin-A NOP patients tended to decrease over , but the serum Fetuin-A and BMD direct relationship may not exist
