M-Learning( Mobile Learning), which can effectually associate mobile computing technology on the basis of digital learning, and make the learners obtain the knowledge they want any time and any place so as to realize unadulterated autonomic learning, and also realize socialization of education and lifetime education, is a brand-new research field.Android is an open source operating system for mobile phones which was released by Google Inc. in November 2007.This paper discusses the implementation of a new M-learning terminal platform which is based on Android, is written in Java, and runs on Dalvik virtual machine which is optimized for mobile phones. The main function modules of that platform include the online reading subsystem based on RSS, the communication subsystem based on Jabber and mobile E-mail, the space location subsystem based on GPS, and the address book subsystem based on DB4O. Some important problems of the development, such as the system bottom data formats, the network communication protocols, the geographical position information and the embedded database technology, are discussed respectively, and some key codes have been listed, and the usability of the system has been verified on the simulation environment.Using this terminal platform, the mobile phone users can obtain abundant teaching resources on the Internet according to the content abstract, meanwhile this two-way exchange between learners and instructors can be built using instant message and mobile E-mail, in addition, the nearby mobile learning group can be established by transfer graphic location information.
