OBJECTIVE: To observe and study the biology and the pharmacognosy, identify the different germplasm resources Scutellaria baicalensis, provide scientific basis for selecting the excellent species from the different germplasm resources Scutellaria baicalensis.METHODS: Adopting the routine methods to survey the plant morphology, phenophase and the characteristic of the medicinal material, utilized the microscopical observation to study the histological structure, and studing on the chromatograms of the fingerprints of Radix Scutellariae by HPLC.RESULTS: 1.There were different in plant type,stem,blossom,seeds in the different germplasm resources Scutellaria baicalensis,Classified according to the main features of phenophase. 2.Character differences of different germplasm medicinal materials lied in Taproot,section,and the proportion between xylem and phloem,according to the characteristics of taproot,the root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi was divided into three types:taproot,part taproot and branch root. 3.Microscopic identification were studied,and the results showed that histological structure of the medicinal material had differences in dork layer,cambium,vas and stone cell. 4.The differences of the most different germplasm resources Scutellaria baicalensis were little,while the Radix Scutellariae of identical germplasm resources showed high similarities for various processing methods.CONCLUSION: Comprehensive analysis of the generality and difference in the biology and the pharmacognosy of the different germplasm resources Scutellaria baicalensis, classified according to phenophase and the characteristic of the medicinal material,providing scientific basis for selecting the excellent species,classifying and identifying the different germplasm resources Scutellaria baicalensis.
