Verbal communication and nonverbal communication are important means of human beings to transmit messages. As a special means of communication, nonverbal communication has its unique function. It can assist the language, enrich the expression of language, sometimes it can replace the audio language, temporarily play the role of communication tools. But nonverbal communication is always neglected in Chinese language teaching. This thesis is led by nonverbal communication theory in the communication, combined with education, psychology and second language acquisition theory, in the form of questionnaire surveys to investigate the reception of non-linguistic symbols of international students in Chinese as a foreign language classroom.This article is divided into four parts. The main contents are as follows:The first chapter is an introduction to introduce the reasons of topic choice, outlined the purpose and methods of study, and related Research.The second chapter mainly introduces some basic concepts of nonverbal communication, discusses the classification, characteristics and functions of nonlinguistic symbols. According to the differences of receiver channels, the nonlinguistic symbols are divided into visual, auditory and other sensory. Based on previous studies, the characteristics of the nonlinguistic symbols is summarized as broad, overall, uncertainty and figurativeness; the functions of nonlinguistic symbols is summarized as alternative, emphasis, added, negative, and regulation. Then discuss the classification, characteristics and functions of nonlinguistic symbols in Chinese as a foreign language classroom.The third chapter introduces the train of thought of questionnaire surveys firstly, and then probe into the results of survey following the visual non-verbal signs, hearing non-verbal symbols, the classification of the other senses, and the variable dimensions (gender, culture, age, Chinese level). Finally put forward several teaching suggestions according to the results of the foregoing analysis.The fourth chapter is the conclusion, summarized the finds and evaluated this research.
