Abstract


Media guide, the pressure of public opinion so that young people are increasingly concerned about body image, and many studies have shown that body image originated in the children's stage, many survey also shows that adolescent their body dissatisfaction phenomenon widespread dissatisfaction will impact on their own, lead to low self-esteem and affect their academic performance. In this paper, negative physical self and explicit self-esteem scale with the Implicit Association Test (IAT) to two parts of youngsters negative physical self with self-esteem and academic performance were investigated. The first part examines adolescent negative physical self with the characteristics of self-esteem, and the second part to further explore the negative physical self test differences in self-esteem and academic achievement, and regression analysis revealed an intermediary role and impact of explicit self-esteem explicit self-esteem negative physical and academic performance, self-concrete dimension. The results show that: (1) young people overall body is satisfied, but not satisfied with the specific dimensions of the phenomenon exists, dissatisfied overall, followed by short, looks as well as lean and fat dimensions, between men and women are not satisfied with dimension differences, more women than men on their bodies more dissatisfied with junior high school students and college students grade difference was not significant. (2) young high explicit self-esteem, implicit self-esteem effect significant. (3) The juvenile negative physical self and explicit self-esteem and academic performance was significantly negatively correlated with implicit self-esteem was not significantly correlated; explicit self-esteem and academic achievement was a significant positive correlation, negative physical self, explicit self-esteem and academic achievement of the three relationships between any significantly. (4) negative physical self, the low variance analysis of the differences in self-esteem and academic achievement: negative physical self the low packet explicit self-esteem was significantly higher than the high group and the middle group, high packet with the middle group outside significant self-esteem differences reached statistical significance; negative physical self different score is test of implicit self-esteem difference was not significant; negative physical self-low grouping academically significantly better in high packet and the middle group, high packet with the middle group of academic performance differences between the same reach statistical significant level. (5) the explicit self-esteem and academic achievement of young people negative body self intermediary role. Overall, looks thin negative physical self explicit self-esteem of young people outside the negative prediction, appearance, dwarf, as a whole, lean negative physical self negative to predict adolescents' academic performance.
