Abstract

Cross Wedge Rolling (CWR) is a new technology and technique to product shaft parts. In recent times, studying on the process of CWR through using finite element method has been made a great progress, especially studying on solid shaft parts. However, it is main to take use of experiments to research on the process of CWR of hollow shaft parts, even using finite element method is really few and scattered without systemic analysis. And on basis of trend in lightweight automobile with Aluminum alloy substituting on steel, thus, the topic of this paper is decided as "Research the Deformation Law of Aluminum Hollow Shaft Parts by Cross Wedge Rolling Based on Deform-3D". The results obtained in the paper could be useful for hollow shaft parts deformation by using CWR technology and has important theoretical sense and using values on improving cross wedge rolling theory. In this paper, a three-dimensional rigid-plastic finite element model has been built by using software DEF0RM-3D. Compared with the experiment results, the simulation results are very close to the experiments’. Therefore, the three-dimensional finite element model of a flat w疤? CWR could be correct and credible. On basis of the model, it has been studied on forming mechanism of CWR of hollow shaft parts, including the fields of stress, strain, damage value and so on in different position and parameter. The article shows pictures of stress, strain and damage distribution of workpiece during deformation. And analyzes stress, strain and damage distribution characters of cross section, longitudinal section and different position, with reasonable and detail describing; and the relation of among the strain rate, temperature and effective stress has been researched; it has got the law of effective stress, effective strain and damage influencing with different parameter in studying. Through the simulated experiments in different experiment condition (includes different material, hollow or solid shaft, no-mandrel shaft or mandrel shaft), it showed that: In method of defects prediction, strain and damage value are more precise than stress; compared to solid shaft, it need stricter controlling condition or better parameter to get high quality parts in hollow shaft deforming; compared to no-mandrel shaft, it need stricter controlling condition or better parameter to form mandrel shaft.
