Mobile ad hoc networks is a work in the unstructured environment of wireless mobile network with no center, self-organizing, multi-hop routing, dynamic topology different from the ordinary characteristics of the network. In recent years, it has been widely applied to emergency disaster relief, military battlefield, sensor networks, road traffic and other fields. With the development of mobile ad hoc networks, imperfect exposed. Routing, energy saving, safety, and quality of service, the mobile ad hoc networks face significant technical challenges. This paper studies the mobile-demand ad hoc network routing protocols, an improved routing algorithm, and its effectiveness is verified by OPNET simulation. This paper summarizes the on-demand routing protocols proposed in recent years, an overview of some important routing protocols, and compare their performance. Then, the analysis of AODV (Ad hoc on-demand distance vector) routing protocol redundant route request message, an improvement of LAR-based AODV routing protocol. LAR-based AODV LAR (Location-Aided Routing) mechanism introduced AODV Routing Search ideas based on the location information of the destination node limit. To a certain extent, can reduce the route discovery process and some of the redundant routing request message. In order to further reduce the number of redundant route request message, the modified LAR-based AODV routing search process, the use of intermediate nodes recalculate and provisions of the forward angle to reduce redundant routing request message. And, in the the improved routing process of looking further ensure that the neighbors do not count toward the forward angle less than the threshold M, the probability of failure can be reduced routing seeking. Further, the improved mechanism are still routed seeking to join the program counter based on the position information, the timer according to the position of the node information setting counter program, rather than randomly generated, so that the the closer intermediate node from the destination node priority forwarding route The request message. On the basis of the above-mentioned improvements, this paper proposes an effective Geography-based AODV routing protocol. Finally, in the OPNET network simulation platform LAR-based AODV and Geography-based AODV routing protocol, and the two simulation studies. The simulation results show that: Geography-based AODV in terms of data delivery ratio, routing overhead, the total number of packet loss, end-to-end delay and average routing hops, have better performance than AODV and LAR-based AODV.
