Abstract


In this paper CGSS2006 Family volumes of data to examine the Chinese city adult children of parents to provide support intergenerational class differences . And to test the theory of resource constraints , the return on investment theory and values ??the explanatory power of the theory of class differences . Adoption order log - ratio model (Ordinal Logit Model) fit the data , the results found that: my social class the higher the status , the more likely the parent on behalf of providing financial support ; old middle class is less than the working class and the new middle class to provide parents with the day-to-day care and emotional support ; higher the status of father social class , adult children are more likely to provide emotional support for parents . Resource constraints theory partly explains the the economic support differences between classes ; return on investment theory to explain the social class of the parent and the adult children of parents to provide emotional support differences . The values ??of the theory has not been well verified .
