Abstract


Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological features of young women with breast cancer and its relationship with prognosis . Method of randomly selected retrospective analysis of the First Affiliated Hospital , Zhejiang University School of Medicine from 1998 to 2004 , 74 patients were treated ≤ 40 years of age of young women with breast cancer clinical and pathological data , randomly selected again admitted to the same period in more than 65 years of age 35 cases of breast cancer in older women compared all cases have to undergo a surgical specimens were pathologically confirmed . Results of the treatment of the young group of breast cancer patients staging the later of (Ⅲ, Ⅳ period ) was significantly higher than the proportion of the older group ( 35.8 % vs 14.3% , P = 0.022 ) ; pathological features , the 5-year disease-free survival rate ( DFS ) , 5 -year overall survival (OS) and the older group difference was not statistically significant . Young breast cancer patients , tumor stage earlier of (Ⅰ, Ⅱ period ) than staging low risk of recurrence (5 disease-free survival rate of 83.7 % vs. 62.5% , P = 0.04) , the later of (Ⅲ, Ⅳ period) good prognosis ( 5-year overall survival rate : 100 % VS 70.8% , P lt ; 0.01) ; p53 positive proportion of the younger group was significantly higher than the old age group ( 62.2 % VS 40 % , P = 0.03 ) ; young group of p53 -positive year survival rate was significantly lower than the negative (84.8% VS100%, P = 0.03). Conclusion young breast cancer treatment , staging a late , but no significant difference in prognosis and elderly groups ; p53 positive rate is higher than the older group , and younger patients with p53 positive prognosis is poor .
