Abstract


Objective To study the various types of brain injury adrenal insufficiency occurrence . Analysis of 48 cases of traumatic brain injury patients injured 72 hours after the morning 8AM basal cortisol level ; low-dose ACTH stimulation experiments, detection stimulated cortisol levels 30 minutes, 60 minutes , to determine adrenal insufficiency happens . Results of light, medium and severe traumatic brain injury cortisol concentrations were 660.57 ± 233.66nmol / l, 675.46 ± 326.1 nmol / l, 625.05 ± 316.6 nmol / l (p gt; 0.05). Adrenal insufficiency ( AI ) rates were 0 / 8 ( 0 % ) 3 / 17 ( 17.6 % ) , 10 / 23 ( 43.5 % ) ( p lt ; 0.05 ) . Conclusion after traumatic brain injury basal cortisol levels do not reflect adrenal insufficiency ; high incidence of adrenal insufficiency in severe traumatic brain injury .
