Abstract


In recent years, global energy resources in the context of the obvious contradiction between supply and demand , energy efficiency much attention . Some scholars study found that foreign direct investment (FDI) on a country ( or region ) of energy efficiency impact. Since reform and opening , China's actual use of foreign direct investment is growing. Some scholars have studied and proved that foreign direct investment and promote China's overall energy efficiency. But China has a vast regional differences , the provinces ( municipalities and autonomous regions ) to attract foreign direct investment and energy efficiency are different. Therefore, the authors suggest that further research is necessary to FDI in different areas of energy use efficiency . Firstly, energy efficiency impact on FDI related literature were reviewed ; followed by the industrial structure effect from FDI and technological progress analyzed the effects of two aspects affecting energy efficiency mechanisms ; then described with plenty of charts from 1997 to 2008 FDI in China during the years of the status and efficiency of energy utilization status ; in the fourth section, the author uses panel data model estimates of FDI in different regions of the energy efficiency of its orientation is different, the eastern region is the negative impact on the central and western regions is a positive impact , while the results of this author attempts a rational explanation ; Finally, the authors combine empirical results for each region how to use FDI to improve energy efficiency policy recommendations .
