Abstract


This paper focuses on regional financial agglomeration to conduct research in an attempt to explore the regional financial agglomeration mechanism,under the analysis framework of regional economics.Because of the difficulty of the positive research,we choose another way in the concrete analysis,which is based on the assumption that financial agglomeration is a special form of industrial clustering, and industry clustering contains useful information about the recearch of financial agglomeration.First, we analyze the general mechanism of industrial agglomeration under the analysis framework of regional economics,and then extend it to the financial sector,ultimately gathering the mechanism of financial agglomeration.The article argues that industrial cluster is a dynamic process, and the realization of it contains formation mechanism and development mechanism. The formation of industrial agglomeration is the result of individual rational choice under the factor endowment difference between regions,and the cumulative result of various effects loop based on accumulative or spillover effect.From the formation to the development, the industrial agglomeration is the result of location choice of the micro-enterprises,but the factors their choice depends on are different in different stages. Their choise mainly depends on regional resource endowments in forming stage,while on accumulative or spillover effect in development stage.Applying the conclusions to the financial sector,we find that similar laws exist in the realization of financial agglomeration.However,when analying the mechanism of financial agglomeration,the article notes that the object of financial transactions have right attributes. Consequently the financial cluster mechanism is different from the general industrial agglomeration mechanism.Compared with the general industry cluster, the financial agglomeration relies more highly on the completeness of information.Finally,the paper taking Zhejiang Province as specific examples, analyzes its development situation of the regional finance, and constructs the Logistic model of the evolution of financial agglomeration.The empirical analysis indicates that the regional finance in Zhejiang Province showed a trend of centralized development around 2002,which is similar to the Model fitting results. According to the Model fitting results,the financial agglomeration in Zhejiang Province has been in forming stage before 2004, and will be in development stage during 2004 to 2014. At present, the regional finance agglomeration of Zhejiang Province is in the development stage .
