Abstract


Lakoff is one of the greatest cognitive linguists in the 21st century. He tries to study the language acquisition theory from the perspective of body experiences. Those experiences stimulate the brain to remember and form the cognitive models, and hence an infant learns a language.By the study of logical mistakes from children’s videos and the existing data, this thesis challenges Lakoff’s language acquisition theory in logical aspect:Although varied, children’s mistakes have some common characters, such as logical vagueness, illogical collocation and substitution. These similarities are powerful counterexamples against Lakoff’s theories. Except that, the investigation of human brain finds that although the brain nerve is stimulated by the external world to preserve information, the stimulated "memories" are uneasy to store, but easy to forget. The above facts and researches prove that it’s impossible for children to acquire a language only by body experiences, within two or three years. This is also the focus and innovations of this paper—classification of children’s logical mistakes and analyses from medical evidences.From the angle of Lakoff’s acquisition theory, this thesis aims to benefit the early education and language education. The writer hopes more talents can be cultivated in order to fulfill the requirements from the society and promote the development of the society.
