Abstract

As a representative of modern Chinese poets, Bian Zhilin had made a lot of experiments and exploration on modern Chinese poetry, which has an important value of references. In this dissertation, we will dissertate the characteristics of Bian Zhilin’s poetic language arts, and focus on the study of how these artistic characteristics generated and what the significances they can provide. There are three parts as followed:Using a lot of colloquial and vernacular language in poetry is a feature of Bian Zhilin’s poetry. Plain, simple words and sentences from daily oral language were used in poetry. Through these experiments, brief but vivid language had come into form in modern Chinese poetry. It also made the pursuit of pure verse and the beauty of intelligence come true. He also tried hard to combine the language of classical Chinese poetry and foreign modernist poetry, so as to acquire some experiences to indite poetries. Reversions give the verse fancy effects, while Chinese "alliteration and assonance" make the verse implicit. Both of the two skills are remarkable achievements in Bian Zhilin’s poetry.Irony and switching are the best rhetoric skills that used in Bian Zhilin’s poetry. The forms of irony in Bian Zhilin’s poems can be included as verbal irony, situational irony, and general irony. The poet was good at fabricate irony effect by humor words and complex context. The perspective of general irony in verse can also lead people to contemplate and criticize themselves. It can be admitted that with the help of irony in poetic language, the effect of intellectual poetic was acquired. Switching is manifested in language and conceptions. The representation of switching is not only manifested in words but also in the poet’s conception. With the help of rhetoric skills of irony and switching, daily oral language in Bian Zhilin’s poetry gained outstanding expression effect.Intellectual is the most important feature of Bian Zhilin’s poetry, which is inseparable from the poet’s work on wording. Abstract motifs were expressed by daily images and oral languages, and some details in poetry will help people to understand this ambiguity. Specific words and abstract words can be used together in an artful way. With those organized poetic language, the poet’s experience of the poem come to reconcile in harmony. And through the dramatic effect of poetry, convey of intelligence poetry has finally come into practice. Monolog, dialogue, aside and dramatic scenery are the main means of dramatics. With the help of these language means, Bian Zhilin made quite a lot of experiments, and objective and impersonal lyricism has come to a brand new esthetic experience, thus the modern Chinese poetry will become multiple and significance.
