Abstract


Objective: To investigate the personality traits of the new the imprisonment male criminals, deal with the relationship between style and mental health status. Methods: COPA-PI, Coping Style Questionnaire and SCL-90 scale, measuring new imprisonment male offenders personality, coping style and mental health status. Results: 1. With National Offender norm, new imprisonment for male offenders in a smart, sympathy, affiliation, volatility, low self-esteem, criminal thinking significant difference compared with the national normal norm imprisonment criminals in the SCL-90 total significant differences on points and each factor; different cultural New imprisonment criminals subordination and inferiority significant difference (F = 5.493, P lt; 0.01; F = 4.912, P lt; 0.01) different sentence imprisonment criminals significant difference in volatility and low self-esteem (F = 7.092, P lt; 0.001; F = 3.718, P lt; 0.05), a new and different types of crime imprisonment criminals in sympathy differences significant (t = -2.080, P lt; 0.05 ), the number of crimes imprisonment criminals difference on the thinking of the crime significantly (t = -2.323, P lt; 0.05); sentence, occupation, type of crime, the number of crimes before catching criminals in the retreat, rationalization, fantasy, self- responsibility for assistance on a significant difference. 2. Volatility and anxiety, interpersonal sensitivity scores were significantly correlated (r = 0.33, p lt; 0.01; r = 0.28, p lt; 0.05; r = 0.25, p lt; 0.05), low self-esteem and interpersonal sensitivity significantly related (r = 0.26, p lt; 0.05), anxiety and interpersonal sensitivity, terror, anxiety significantly correlated (r = 0.26, p lt; 0.05; r = 0.22, p lt; 0.05; r = 0.23, p lt; 0.05) , violent tendencies and somatization, depression significantly with related (r = 0.30, p-lt; 0.01; r = 0.24, p-lt; 0.05), criminal thinking and somatization significantly with related (r = 0.26, p-lt; 0.05); respond to the way rationalization, fantasy, self-blame and retreat and mental health status was a significant positive correlation, help with mental health showed a significant negative correlation; rationalization and slave, volatility impulse, alert, low self-esteem, anxiety, violent tendencies, abnormal psychology and criminal thinking significantly associated with fantasy and alert, anxiety, abnormal psychology and criminal thinking significantly with relevant, for help with the external dump sympathy significant with a positive correlation, and volatility, low self-esteem, anxiety, violent tendencies and criminal thinking significantly negatively correlated, remorse associated with alert significantly with retreat with violent tendencies and criminal thinking significantly related. 3. The new imprisonment criminals personality traits of the volatility and propensity to violence is an effective predictor of mental health, self-blame and avoidance coping style is an effective predictor of mental health. Fluctuations in New imprisonment personality characteristics of offenders and violent by coping style, self-blame and retreat on mental health in interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, somatization score effect. Conclusion: The new imprisonment of the offender's personality traits through coping style effect their mental health. Means of longitudinal studies should be used to further understand the change in status of criminals in jail at different times within the personality traits, coping style and mental health.
