Purpose : The incidence of malignant thymoma in recent years, an upward trend , surgery alone , radiotherapy and traditional chemotherapy drugs , poor efficacy . In recent years , the application of our department oxaliplatin combined with 5-Fu treatment of malignant thymoma initial success . This retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 20 cases of malignant thymoma patients explore oxaliplatin in combination with 5 - fluorouracil treatment efficacy of malignant thymoma and thymoma pathology . Methods: December 2002 ---- December 2009 by pathology or cytology , 20 cases of malignant thymoma patients , including two cases of type B1 type B2 , B3 5 cases , C- 10 cases. According to the latest WHO pathological classification is divided into 2 groups: in low-grade malignant group B1 B2, height malignant Group B3 C . 11 male and 9 females , PS score ≤ 2. Application of oxaliplatin in combination with 5 - fluorouracil chemotherapy treatment , efficacy was evaluated after two cycles . Thymoma pathological classification according after WHO2004 revised classification standard . Evaluable for response according to RECIST solid tumor efficacy evaluation criteria , assessment of adverse reactions , according to the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) Common Toxicity grading criteria (version 3.0 ) . The data were analyzed using SPSS10.0 statistical software . Results : The overall efficacy : complete remission (CR) 3 cases , partial remission (PR) 13 patients , stable (SD) 4 cases , the effective rate of 80% , the disease control rate was 100% . Group study : in the low- grade group (B1 B2) CR cases , highly malignant group CR3 cases ; in low grade PR3 cases , the highly malignant group PR10 cases ; in low- grade group, the total effective rate of 60% , highly malignant 86.7% ; significant difference in efficacy between the prompt low grade and high grade ( P lt; 0.05 ) . The main adverse reactions : anemia, thrombocytopenia , gastrointestinal reactions, and neurotoxicity . Ⅰ - Ⅱ degree of adverse reaction rates of 30.5 % , Ⅲ degree of adverse reactions occurred only 1% . Conclusion: Oxaliplatin in combination with 5 - fluorouracil in the treatment of malignant thymoma good effect , especially the C-type , slightly advantages compared with previous adverse reaction to light, and well tolerated . Pathological types of chemotherapy efficacy with thymoma highly correlated : the higher the degree of malignancy , the more sensitive to chemotherapy .
