Objective: To investigate adult epilepsy patients with depression, anxiety, and personality characteristics to analyze the impact of depression, anxiety and personality characteristics. Methods: From March 2009 to November 2009, the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical epilepsy outpatient epilepsy in 96 patients, normal control group from our hospital staff, family members, community health crowd of 63 cases. The two groups of age, gender, education level, marital status match. Application self scale records of all patients with the etiology, course of the disease, seizure frequency, drug applications, seizure type. Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ adult), Life Event Scale (LES) test check of 96 cases of adult epilepsy patients and 63 normal subjects. Scores using t test, x2 test comparing two groups of depression, anxiety, personality questionnaire factor score, negative life events frequency and so whether there are differences. The correlation analysis and multiple linear stepwise regression analysis screened affecting adults with epilepsy, depression, anxiety related factors. Results: 1. Epilepsy group and the normal control group HAMD, the HAMA two ratings exist significant difference (P lt; 0.01). HAMD score in the epilepsy group anxiety / somatization, weight, cognitive impairment, retardation, sleep disorders, systemic symptoms six factor scores were significantly higher. The HAMA score somatization anxiety, the two mental anxiety factor scores were significantly higher. Epilepsy group, 96 cases of depression and anxiety in adults with epilepsy incidence were 44.8%, 52.1%. Including light, moderate and severe depression, depression accounted for 86% of the total number, 12%, 2%; Light, accounted for 60% of the total number of anxiety, severe anxiety, respectively, 28% and 12%, respectively. Normal control group of 63 normal depression was 1.6%, anxiety incidence of 3.2% were mild depression and anxiety. Level analysis, the epilepsy group HAMD score, HAMA score and epilepsy frequency-dependent (P lt; 0.01), regardless of gender, etiology, educational level. In univariate analysis, the epilepsy group HAMD score, HAMA score with age, the frequency of negative events for families positively correlated (P lt; 0.05, P lt; 0.01), and no correlation with the course of the disease, work, and social negative events. HAMD score as the dependent variable, age, seizure frequency, frequency of negative events for families into the regression equation. The HAMA score as the dependent variable, seizure frequency, the frequency of negative events for families into the regression equation. Epilepsy group and the normal group EPQ results comparison N itemized, there were significant differences (P lt; 0.01). Epilepsy group compared with the normal group LES results, a negative negative life events and family events, work negative events, the social negative event frequency significant difference (P lt; 0.01). Conclusion: 1 adult epilepsy patients with normal compared depression anxiety proportion is higher, heavier, clinical symptoms richer, wider range of impact. HAMD scale score in anxiety / somatization, weight, cognitive impairment, retardation, sleep disorders, systemic symptoms six factor scores were higher than the normal population (P lt; 0.05). HAMA scale score of somatization anxiety, mental anguish two factor scores were higher than the normal population (P lt; 0.05) age, seizure frequency and negative family event the three major risk for adult epilepsy patients with depression anxiety factor. The older families experienced more negative events, the more frequent seizures, the more prone to depression and anxiety. 3 patients with epilepsy have emotional unstable personality characteristics.
