Abstract

Coherence is a discourse analysis of the most complex, one of the most important elements is the focus of discourse analysis in one of the issues. Over the past three decades, research endless discourse coherence, and made a lot of research results. But look at the results of these studies difficult to find, few scholars from a cognitive perspective matrix domain of discourse coherence research. Therefore, this article attempts to explore from the perspective of the characteristics and laws of Coherence. This theory is based on spreading activation model and the concept of perception matrix domain. Spreading activation model is that the brain is based on semantic similarity or semantic relevance to store information. When a message is activated, a similar or related information will be activated. Cognitive View of the matrix of the matrix field domain is a concept seen highlighting the potential need to be activated cognitive domain and the set of cognitive domains. This paper uses a theoretical construction combined with the practical application of research methods, through the concept of cognitive domains of Discourse matrix model to expository, argumentative, narrative, descriptive text and instructions Wen five types of discourse, we found that: (1) the matrix domain from a cognitive perspective, the whole discourse can be divided into the activated form of the dominant discourse of cognitive domain and the domain has not been activated form of the potential cognitive discourse. Dominant discourse has dominant or recessive theme themes are activated two sub-domains, three sub-domains, also has its own theme dominant or recessive theme. These topics are the overall coherence of discourse has a constructive role. (2) in the matrix domain model under the concept of discourse, discourse users in obtaining coherent process, the cognitive domain, there are two main methods of activation. One is the parallel activation, showed at the same level of cognitive domains by event, time, space, or the juxtaposition of the order has been activated. The second is the hierarchical activation, showed different levels of cognitive domains in accordance with the general - special, abstract - concrete, whole - part of the reason - the result, a large - and small sequence is activated. (3) the user to obtain a coherent discourse process, cognitive activated increasing the number of domains, the relationship between the cognitive domains are becoming more abundant.
