Abstract


The legend of Magic ring is in a strategic position in the human cultural history. As a global cultural phenomenon, it can not be ignored by everyone who wants to know ourselves well.In China, before Qin dynasty, people believed that jade ring could help them contact with supernatural mysterious strength. In the literary notes of Tang dynasty, there are also many interesting stories about ring. At the same time, in Greek mythology, the ring is used to represent the huge power of the gods and in Nordic mythology, ring itself has magical might. Not only in west but in east culture, we can find the similar stories about magic ring. Study of these stories made me realize that magic ring is not only a simple prop of myth, but contains more complex and profound cultural context.It has close relationship with the ancient cosmology and philosophy of mysticism. The relationship makes ring Symbolic and Distinctive in all accessories and jewelry. Through the stories of magic ring, people show the awe and curiosity to the huge power of the nature and express the initiative thinking about the creation and cycle of all things in the world. Behind awe and thinking, it is the desire to destroy the world that strike fear into humanity themselves. This paper attempts to sort out the complex cultural phenomenon, explore its historical origins and symbolism, and reveal its influence to us today.
