As an important part of food,aquatic products play a significant role in the international trade. China has abundant aquatic products,and also has great export trade.Due to their nutritional richness,delicious taste,high protein,low fat and good balance of nutrition,aquatic products are consumed by more and more people.Export is an important factor that affect economic growth.In recent years,the rapid growth in China’s export of aquatic products attracts close attention. Based on this background, selecting data from 1992 to 2008, this paper takes a systematic empirical analysis on China’s aquatic products export trade with qualitative and quantitative methods combined,so as to arrive at the conclusions and good recommendations.Using data from the UNCOMTRADE and the FAO, based on the comparative advantage theory,intra-industry theory and competitiveness theory of international trade theory in the global fish trade of competition.Beginning on the pattern of aquatic products from the world, and the status of China’s aquatic products market development, in the base of the global economy and China’s entry into WTO, whether these trade policies have a significant impact on China’export will be examined. Using constant market share model(CMS model), three aspects of demand, structure and competitiveness of aquatic product related to export increase are analyzed empirically based on the relevant data of UNCOMTRADE from 1993 to 2006 ,The results show that the increase of China’s aquatic product export mainly relies on the demand increase of the aquatic product in the world market, which is the major factor caused increase of aquatic product export increase.Structure and competitiveness of aquatic product have a little contribution to export increase. market demand, strong competitiveness was the major factor of export increase to Japan in the past 10 years. To the US market,the main reason of export trade growth is the effects of demand scale and export competitiveness.More strongth competitiveness is the main reason in the EU market. .In terms of competitiveness, aquatic products in our country has a strong international competitiveness. Except of the software products,the competitiveness of the other four aquatic products have increased.Fish prepared and crustaceans prepared are in the most export potential. In terms of market structure,the main development potential markets of China are Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Russia,which are the main makrts of aquatic products import in the world.
