Abstract


In mid - 2008 , the Hong Kong Stock Exchange ( stock code : 0388 ) stock price reached 80 yuan per share , due to the special nature of the company , the company considered for Stock Splits and to solicit the views of the market . Market estimates, the the HKEx stock may share split , the market is much talk about . In this paper, the event study to explain the effect of the the stock stock split announcement , and to evaluate the impact of the announcement of the stock split on the market and stocks . Efficient market hypothesis describes how the prices reflect information , it becomes very useful on the basis of the theoretical analysis tools , these theoretical analysis tool , observe the different types of messages on the stock market and the impact of the price . The market price of the new information will make adjustments in the affirmative . But how to separate out the effect of this new information , it is a difficult task . The efficient market hypothesis suggests that the adjustment of market prices fully reflect the impact of the new information . To \analysis of the impact on the price of the Hong Kong stock market stock stock split announcement shares of listed companies , the empirical results show that the listed Company stock split , the stock price changes caused by the stock split announcement event adjustments . Finally, based on empirical results speculation that 4 stock split , stock market performance of listed companies failed to reach the semi-strong form . The demolition of the number of shares of a company listed on the Hong Kong market in the history of this paper is able to collect only 18 data samples less difficult for the effectiveness of the overall market for further analysis . However, the through four market behavior analysis , the Hong Kong market local market behavior understanding the overall understanding of the market has some inspiration for the future . Selected Hong Kong-listed shares over four had split the listed company as a sample .
