Abstract

The neutron generator is a broad application prospects neutron source, it 2.5MeV or through the DT reaction 14MeV neutrons produced by DD reaction. Ion source, ion optics system, the target is an important part of the neutron tube. Neutron tube when working, the ions generated by the ion source is an ion optical system leads, focusing (or diverging), drift, and finally projected onto a target to produce neutrons. Ion optical system determines the beam transmission characteristics, and ultimately affect the neutron tube neutron yield, stability and life. Therefore, to carry out the study of the ion optical system is important and indispensable part of the neutron tube design. Firstly, starting from the basic principles of the beam optics, beam in the transmission characteristics of the phase space, the characteristics of the neutron tube ion optical system and its impact on the performance of the neutron tube derived axisymmetric electrostatic lens and several simple lens transfer matrix and the beam envelope equation in the field of electrostatic lens and a strong beam space-charge effect of the beam transport. Analysis and the use of the hole membrane simplified model of the neutron tube ion beam transport elements of the optical system transmission matrix derivation provide a theoretical basis for the neutron tube transmission system research. Application IGUN software for applications in the petroleum logging extensive Penning ion source neutron tube ion optical system, numerical simulation, and the results of a theoretical analysis. Simulation analysis of different electrical parameters and plasma density conditions, the beam emittance, focusing on the characteristics and the target beam spot changes, initially grasp the small Penning ion source neutron tube ion optical beam transport system characteristics, simulation results and theoretical results - induced. Penning ion source, at a vacuum degree of about 10-3Pa, when the electron temperature and the plasma density in the anode voltage 1400V, learned that the working conditions of the ion source is measured by dual-probe experiments to verify the results of the principle. Binding with tritium target surface since the measurement of the emitted x-ray analysis to obtain the beam in the target surface due to the focusing distribution, with the simulation results, the beam distribution. Finally, the neutron tube for different application requirements, the requirements of the beam are not the same, therefore there should be a corresponding change in the ion optical system, on the basis of the overall requirements of the neutron tube design, respectively, on the accompanying alpha detector child tube with high amount of the neutron tube design discussions, offers some helpful suggestions for the neutron tube design.
