Abstract


Objective: To study HIF-1 and VEGF in pterygium tissues and their correlation. Methods: Using immunohistochemistry study HIF-1 and VEGF , respectively, in 32 cases of pterygium and 11 cases of normal conjunctival tissue . Results: 32 cases of pterygium HIF-1 positive expression rate was 62.5% ( 20/32 ) , 32 cases of pterygium of VEGF expression was 84.8% ( 27 /32 ) , 11 cases of normal human conjunctiva tissue HIF-1 positive expression rate was 9.1% ( 1/ 11 ) , 11 cases of normal human conjunctival tissue VEGF positive expression rate of 18.2% ( 2/11 ) , normal human conjunctiva and pterygium between the two groups HIF-1 and VEGF expression differences was significant , and pterygium HIF-1 and VEGF expression was positively correlated (P <0.05). Conclusion : 1.HIF-1, VEGF is highly expressed in pterygium , suggesting that they may be involved in the occurrence and development of pterygium . 2.HIF-1, VEGF expression in pterygium were positively correlated , suggesting that HIF-1 in pterygium may be involved in the regulation of expression of VEGF .
