Abstract


WangShuo is the noticeable character of Chinese contemporary writers. 1980s and 1990s, WangShuo was famed as a traitor in the literary world. And he became a focus of controvercy in the eyes of commentators. WangShuo’ s unique creative style and creative perspective was close to Cynicism, which was a important philosophical factions originated in ancient Greece. Cynicism concentrated expression in the anti-intellectual , anti-order, and anti-tradition areas. People who believe Cynicism are sophisticated and hypocrisy with the character of characterization. And they undermine to seek the freedom and happy life. WangShuo accepted the impact of Cynicism passively. He belittled and ridiculed traditional moral standards to make the destruction effect.In this paper, the structure is divided into four chapters. Chapter I explaines about Cynicism in contemporary context. Including origin and evolution of Cynicism, and the characteristic after combining with Chinese cultural.Chapter II analyses WangShuo’ s novels on the performance of Cynicism. Including showing the echo and detachment of Cynicism through the plot, and showing two kinds of images as the upper and the lower of Cynicism through characterization. Chapter III explores the source of Wangshuo’ s Cynicism thinking, including the impact of external environment and Wangshuo’ s own factors. Chapter IV explaines the significance and limitations in Wangshuo’ s Cynicism thinking. I point out that Cynicism makes WangShuo be a liberator, a revelator and a torchbearer to a certain extent; However, Cynicism makes Wangshuo have wrong values. So we can conclude that the cynicism is only a hypocritical salvation on the readers’ and WangShuo’s mind. Through the above four chapters discuss, this paper attempts to stand on view of Cynicism to put forward some new ideas for the development ofWangshuo and China’s contemporary literature.
