Abstract


Nowadays, the literature and art theory is taken into a flourishing period of multi-development. Under such an academic background, the rewarding results are obtained by Mr. Lu Mei-lin, who goes deep into the literature and art thoughts of Marxism through his exploring research on the classics and practices of this field.Several major contributions by Mr. Lu can be concluded to the following items. Firstly, as to the system of Marxism’s literature and art study, he proves that it is a complete theoretical system combined by a flexible form and a closely related content. Secondly, he probes into the spiritual nature of Marxism’s literature and art study. After an objective analysis of Marxist premise, purpose and its fundamental identities, he proposes a deduction that Marxism’s literature and art study is proletarian, meanwhile, boasting a strong sense of Party principles and interests. Last but not the least; he presents a systematic discussion on the methodology of Marxism’s literature and art study. Beginning with dividing the methodology into basic strata, he claims the argument of“monism and multiformity”, notably we should insist Marxist monism in the highest level of worldview and methodology, while the concrete research method is meant to be diversified.Lu Mei-lin’s research into Marxism thoughts on literature and art has established its own characteristics: dialectical thinking; research awareness of integrating history with theory; research awareness of integrating history with theory.
