Objective: To investigate E-cadherin, β-catenin and CathepsinD expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) organization and its relationship with clinical and pathological features. Methods: Using immunohistochemistry EnVision method detected 60 cases of ESCC and 15 cases of normal esophageal tissues of E-cadherin, β-cat and of Cath-D expression analysis of the relationship between expression with clinical and pathological features of ESCC. Results: 1) abnormal expression of E-cadherin in normal esophageal tissues and in ESCC tissues were 0% (0/15), 61.67% (37/60), the difference was statistically significance (P lt; 0.01) . Abnormal expression of E-cad in ESCC group of the group of well-differentiated and poorly differentiated rate of 30.77% (8/26), 85.29% (29/34), the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P lt; 0.01). E-cad in ESCC not invade and abnormal expression of the myometrium group and invading muscle group, 26.67% (4/15), 73.33% (33/45), the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P lt ; 0.01). E-cad without lymph node metastasis in ESCC and abnormal expression rate of lymph node metastasis were 41.94% (13/31), 82.76% (24/29), the difference was statistically significance (P lt; 0.01) ; 2) abnormal expression of β-catenin in normal esophageal tissues and in ESCC tissues were 0% (0/15), 66.67% (40/60), the difference was statistically significant (P lt; 0.01). abnormal expression of β-cat in ESCC group of the group of well-differentiated and poorly differentiated rate of 38.46% (10/26), 88.23% (30/34), the difference was statistically significant (P lt; 0.01). β-cat in ESCC not invade and abnormal expression of the myometrium group and invading muscle group, 33.33% (5/15), 77.78% (35/45), the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P lt ; 0.01). β-cat without lymph node metastasis in ESCC and abnormal expression rate of lymph node metastasis were 48.39% (15/31), 86.21% (25/29), the difference was statistically significance (P lt; 0.01) ; 3) Cath-D in 60 cases of ESCC positive expression rate was 60% (36/60), higher than the normal esophageal tissue 0% (0/15), the difference was statistically significance (P lt; 0.01 ). Cath-D in poorly differentiated group, and muscular invasion group and the positive expression rate of lymph node metastasis were 76.47% (26/34), 73.33% (33/45), 89.66% (26/29) higher than the group of well-differentiated, invading the muscularis group and without lymph node metastasis, and the difference was statistically significant (P lt; 0.01); 4) in ESCC in the abnormal expression of E-cad and β-cat was a positive correlation (r = 0.679 P lt; 0.01) of Cath-D positive expression of E-cadherin, β-cat abnormal expression was positively correlated (r = 0.616, P lt; 0.01; r = 0.505, P lt; 0.01). Conclusion: prompt ESCC E-cad related to the abnormal expression of β-cat and Cath-D expression was correlated with tumor invasion and development, combined detection of E-cadherin, β-cat and Cath-D may be the degree of malignancy of the monitoring ESCC and an important indicator of prognosis.
