The background of this article is about the research of Semiotics, Design Semiotics, Design Innovation, and Automobile Design. Base on these theoretics and their relationship, the major idea of this article has been found: With the development and future trend of automobile design as the research object, this article intends to use the analysis and connection between Design Semiotics and Design Innovation, discusses the using of symbol in automobile design, confirms its feasibility and inevitability, explains its market value, and emphasizes using symbols which are discovered and abstracted in the traditional culture. With a lot of examples, this article summarizes some important methods, in order to afford some possible developmental paths for automobile design, especially Chinese modern automobile design innovation.The first part of this article is about the background, source, major idea, and innovation points, and then educes the problem which this article wants to solve, and the meaning of the problem.
