Objective To understand the current situation and characteristics of Suzhou City, 70 years of age or older residents of the metabolic syndrome (MS) . 2552 sample survey of 20 community Suzhou resident elderly residents over the age of 70 , which relates to demographic characteristics , income , living habits , chronic diseases and medical conditions , to detect the height, weight , waist circumference , blood pressure , fasting glucose , fasting insulin , blood glycerol the triester , high-density lipoprotein cholesterol . International Diabetes Federation (IDF) MS working definition of the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome . Calculating the prevalence of MS and its components , analyze the impact factors , the prevalence of MS and to compare Chinese Diabetes Society (CDS) on the difference of MS is defined and the International Diabetes Federation MS working definition of diagnosis of senile MS . Results MS prevalence was 21.8% , the prevalence of men and women were 11.8% , 29.2% , was higher in women than men ; central obesity , high TG and low HDL - C , high blood pressure hyperglycemia prevalence rates were 48.7% , 18.5% , 5.6% , 67.4% , 28.7 % ; proportion of men and women have one or more metabolic abnormalities were as high as 78.2% , 90.1 % ; increasing age , female MS prevalence downward trend ; influencing factors of MS illness age, gender , body mass index , insulin resistance , high blood pressure and family history of diabetes , physical exercise and income . IDF and CDS standard diagnosis of MS coincidence rate was 85 % , IDF -defined diagnostic rate is higher than the CDS . Conclusion Suzhou elderly residents MS prevalence is high, especially in the younger age old women , the IDF definition of elderly MS high recognition rate .
