Abstract

Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) standard developed by the IEEE802.17 working group is to be applied to the new metro backbone network topology. The purpose of the development of this standard is to achieve high bandwidth utilization, the ideal spatial reuse and fair bandwidth allocation. Resilient Packet Ring technology is still in the stage of research and exploration, has attracted the interest of many research institutes at home and abroad, one of the key technologies is the ability to design a fair bandwidth allocation algorithm to achieve the above objectives. In this paper, the RPR network technology has been studied and discussed. The paper introduces a layered reference model of the RPR ring structure and operation of the MAC entity structure and frame structure and topology discovery mechanism, protection switching mechanism and other key technologies are described in detail. Second, in-depth discussion of the RPR network bandwidth fair allocation algorithm, several typical fairness algorithm, to give a specific analysis and performance comparison of the two modes of operation mechanism. At the same time, the study of the mathematical model for the definition of the a fair reference model RIAS, and a theoretical analysis. Finally, a meet the RPR protocol requirements of the new fair algorithm and test its performance through simulation. This is the first introduction of the dichotomy to the fairness algorithm design, dichotomy is a finite set fastest convergence algorithm is simple, time and space complexity. Fairness algorithm uses the idea of ??the dichotomy, successive approximation of the fair rate to achieve the dynamic allocation of bandwidth, more suitable for distributed network environment, faster convergence. This algorithm on a network link to the fair between the the IA flow (inlet flow convergence) as the goal, to ensure the fairness of the ring network bandwidth allocation. This design and the establishment of the the RPR network node model, process model, link model, network model, and model C programming language. Network simulation model The draft algorithms and new algorithms were simulated and compared and performance verification. Analysis and simulation results show that the algorithms in the draft the nonequilibrium flow environment, so that the bandwidth of a continuing and permanent oscillation. The bandwidth allocation algorithm based on the dichotomy fairness algorithm is triggered, the loop bandwidth will quickly converge to fair value, to avoid a continuing and permanent oscillation. The same time, each node in the loop will be allocated the fair bandwidth close to the ideal, the entire loop to achieve fairness, it is possible to obtain the maximum spatial reuse.
