Abstract


With the socio-economic development, people’s lifestyle and quality of life are undergoing a qualitative leap. Advocating fashion, chasing fashion and shaping personality have become one of the melodies of life. That provides unlimited business opportunities in the new century .Chinese ornament industry and ornament enterprises have mushroomed. Then it also brings more competition, more challenges and more diversified demand. As there are many problems in development and design process of existing product in ornament industry, which makes it difficult to adapt to the new situation. It has become an important problem that how to get rid of bottlenecks to gain a competitive advantage in the new situation. Today, the universal application of information technology has changed not only the way of life but also the enterprises operating mode of production dramatically. The design management system, based on using of information technology, doesn’t merely manage the product design but also integrate the resources of enterprises in the process of designing when all comes to all to obtain the support of the design process and to improve the efficiency and quality of design to enhance the competitiveness.Combined with the major project of Science and Technology Plan of ZheJiang Province-Research on the Integration Management Platform of Ornaments Innovation Design based on Knowledge and its Application in Ornament Industry("knowledge-based ornament design integrated management platform for innovation and its application"), this thesis focuses on several problems in the theory of design and management, the status and opportunities of ornament industry and the existing problems to deal with the opportunities. Based on that, the overall scheme of the design of management system in ornament industry is proposed. While a design management system is empoldered to fulfill the needs of information management and design management development in Xing Guang Co. Ltd. In the system, a design resource sharing Platform is built by use of information technology to effectively manage the design resources, to optimize the product design and development process and to provide effective support. Thus the design efficiency and quality would be improved, the diverse needs of the market would be timely responded and the development cycle and costs would be reduced to improve the competitiveness in ornament business.In chapter I, the status quo, development trends, development opportunities and challenges in ornament industry in China are analyzed at first. Then the status of product development and the existing problems to respond to market opportunities and challenge in the domestic ornament industry are also analyzed. In the end, design management is proposed, the significance of the design management system on resolving the current issue in ornament industry is discussed and eventually the purpose, meaning and main content of the thesis are concluded.From the product development process in ornament business, the existing problems and the demands of design management system in ornament business are discussed and analyzed in chapter II.In chapter III, design management system is totally designed and also is divided and analyzed in functional modules. In addition, the scheme for the ornament design under the Design System is analyzed. Founded on the former several chapters’ research and analysis, the status of the management in Xing Guang Co. Ltd, which is a model enterprise in Ornament industry, is analyzed in chapter IV while the design management system is systematically developed for its demands.The study contents of the thesis is summarized, the achievements and insufficiencies of the thesis are introduced while the future research work is suggested in chapter V.
