The 16th National congress of CPC stated that the main tasks to build a well-off society in an all-round way are as follows: coordinate urban and rural economic and social development, build a modern agriculture, develop the rural economy and increase the income of peasants. Practice has proved that at present and in future for a fairly long period, developing modern agriculture will be the keystone of new socialist countryside building. However, how to adjust measures to local conditions, carry forward the advantages and avoid the disadvantages, integrate of the resources, develop scientifically, explore a modern agriculture building method which fit the need of self-development will influence the development speed and quality of modern agriculture in China by a large extent. After several decades of development, our province Farm developed and grown stronger gradually, the economic raised constantly, which play an important role in modern agriculture and will act as a leader in the building of modern agriculture.This paper focused on the method of building modern agriculture in our province. First, from experts and scholars research on foreign and native modern agriculture, on the bases of expatiation of native and overseas’modern agriculture development model and experience, then the basic situation of China’s state-owned farms, status of modern agriculture construction and the problems were discussed. Second, specific ways to build modern agriculture in state-owned farms are proposed to different farms development status and resources advantages. Finally, the paper illustrates typical farm cases in our province, which represent different farm types. These vivid cases are the best confirms of this study, they proved that the method proposed in this study is scientific, feasible and effective, and will be able to play a leading role in the construction of modern agriculture in the province. Compared to the local farms, building of modern agriculture in state-owned farms not only has the following advantages, fully-equipped facilities, higher scientific research and technology, more concentrated land area. But also have some disadvantages, there are obsolete institutional mechanisms, backwardness of thought and concept, and so on. On the basis of field survey, combining with the practice of farms, according to the farm realities in our province, we proposed the following development approach.“Bigger and stronger competitive industries, and enhance the industrial development level,”“Speed up the pace of scientific and technological innovation in our province Farm,”“Co-ordinate building farm and local actively,”and“Accelerating building the demonstration zone, provide demonstration window for the modern agricultural development”. This can provide references to build modern agriculture of state-owned farms in our province.
