The formation of animation’s national character is an important maturity sign of one country’s animation industry. Chinese animation has been renowned "Chinese School" in the last century. The special national style of China animation has been received widespread concern and praise. However, because of various reasons, the current Chinese national animation character has been becoming blurred. Nowadays, there are too many imitations in Chinese animation, which imitate other countries’ styles. In fact, there are plenty of national cultures, implication of unique ethnic in china 5,000 years history. They form Chinese Animated plastic material.Puppet show, ink, paper cutting, shadow play and so on are all Chinese ethnic traditional art forms. They have been widely popular, but with the prevalence of popular art, these Chinese arts are being forgotten gradually. More serious, some have on the verge of losing. Puppet show has nearly more than one thousand years history in China. If we can’t protect it in a proper way, there will be a great pity for our national culture.Chinese puppet show and animation have the same character. They are the collection of literature, fine arts arena, such as music together. From our national puppet show, we can dig out much useful information for China animation. And, on the other hand, studying and absorbing the elements of puppet show is bound to be able to find a new way for puppet transmitting.This paper designs four chapters to express my idea:The first chapter mainly introduce animation’s basic concept, features, classification and history. Meanwhile, choosing America and Japan’s animation, comparing their features and developing history, aimed to understand animation in deeply degree. Finally, analyzing the history and current situation of China animation, the development of China’s animation history and current situation analysis to identify the existing development of the China animations, is to find the existing problem of our country.The second chapter of the paper shows the origin, development and the characteristics through some areas; sum up the problems of traditional Chinese puppet.The third chapter, I analyze the important elements, which impact the animation’s national style, and compare deferent countries’ animation’s features on these key elements.The fourth chapter is the focus of this paper. I overview animation and puppetry and other traditional art forms, explore the mutual benefit between the new art and traditional folk. Carrying the basis, absorbing the advantages, using the old essence in nowadays, combing modern elements, spirit, create popular and strong vital Chinese Animation.
