Abstract


In the developing of modern landscape design, the diversified and personalized characteristics make the landscape design realm in China more active. Since 1960s, Minimalist landscape design has become the typical representative of many art design trends. As a genre of western modernist landscape, it presents a bright design characteristic. Many architect advocate minimalist style of landscape and design many typical works. Minimalist landscape design excellently summarizes and develops modern landscape by its natures of integral, concise, abstract and reasonable applies of natural environment and space, as well as to the inheritance of history and culture of and metaphor of time. It is a new source of modern landscape design.This thesis introduces minimalism by its development process and studies influence and development of minimalism in minimalist painting, sculpture, architectonic etc., and then extracts natures of minimalist art. The thesis finds the way which can improve the level of modern landscape design in China by thorough research of that minimalism influent the modern landscape design, in order to adapt to the development of modern society. The thesis summarizes the initiation, formation and development of minimalism, which is helpful to understand its reasons of effects on landscape design, and can better analyses natures of minimalist landscape.The main content of the thesis is describing development and breakthrough of landscape realm that are influenced by minimalist art in 1960s. The thesis generalizes the development of modern landscape design which’s context is modernism, and draws conclusion what are character and direction of minimalist landscape design from analyzing typical people and famous works of minimalist landscape design. In the end, the thesis analyses the current situation of Chinese modern landscape design for its development direction was discussed.
